Chargers fall to Buena on the road, 6-3

Coach Kymberly Williams-Evans said that India Craig, Fiona Georgakis and Marina Plesons had phenomenal games, but the Dos Pueblos girls soccer game fell against Channel League power Buena on Tuesday, 6-3.

“If you take away our two own-goals and the penalty shot we really held them to 3-3,” joked Williams-Evans.

Georgakis played a ball up the sideline to Plesons, who crossed it to Ristig for DP’s first goal, and Claire Matthews flipped one up to six-footer Karina Evans for the header-goal after that. Kristin Witchey scored DP’s third goal on a beautiful free kick from 25 yards out.

“We played well but we couldn’t match their speed. They had two amazing forwards, but in the second half our intensity was at a 10,” said Williams-Evans.

The Chargers (5-9-1, 1-1-0) play at San Marcos on Thursday.
