A strong defense and quick counterattack led the Cate girls water polo team to a 12-7 victory against Carpinteria Monday.
Junior Belle Kammer was the leading scorer of the game, tallying a total of four goals. Senior Lizzie Wierich had several quick steals, adding three goals to the scoreboard. Kate Montgomery also had three goals, followed by Lexi Greenwald who scored two goals and had many excellent fast breaks.
“Jazmin Sherwod did a great job of passing the ball quickly down the pool, as well as blocking several tough shots,” coach Erin Habelt commented.
Maddie Robison and Kate Montgomery proved a strong defensive duo at the 2-meter position, holding Carpinteria for the win.
Cate hopes to keep its defense going against Oaks Christian in their next game Friday.
