Carp misses plenty but gets league win

A win’s a win.

Even when you shoot 13-for-43 from the floor like Carpinteria did in Wednesday’s 44-35 boys basketball win against visiting St. Bonaventure.

Manny Rodriguez had 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Warriors (13-6, 2-2 TVL), who held the Seraphs (3-15, 0-4 TVL) to just four points in the second half. Justin Alvarado and Isacc Cervantes each had seven boards in the game. Next up for Carpinteria is league-favorite Oaks Christian. The Lions defeated the Warriors already this year in the title game of the Valley Christian Holiday Tournament.

“We’re going to have to adjust a few things we do,: said coach John Ward. “Manny got in foul trouble against them last time and that hurt us. We’re going to have to keep Manny in the game. We know what to expect and we think we can play with them.”
