The Bishop Diego girls soccer team scored a 5-1 Frontier League victory on Tuesday, posting the win behind two goals each from Candace Melgoza and Sheena Martinez.
Allison Carr scored the other goal as the Cardinals improved to 3-9, 1-2.
“We wanted to come away with a home victory,” said head coach Brent Gonsalves, whose team has been scoring plenty lately but having trouble keeping the other team from doing the same. “We fought to win today.”
Freshman Nicole Tetherow assisted on two of the goals and Gonsalves liked what he got from another midfielder, Natalie Durtche. Melissa Georgi did a nice job in the back keeping the Saints out of net.
The Cardinals have another league game coming on Thursday against Grace Brethren.
