Cardinals can’t crack Santa Clara

Janelle Kohler had 11 points and Dalise Spence played her best game as a Cardinal according to coach Jeff Burich, but the Bishop Diego girls basketball team dropped a 53-35 decision to Frontier League-favorite Santa Clara Tuesday.

“We got outscored by four or five in every quarter. It was a very physical game, which we knew was going to happen but it’s tough to prepare for that,” said coach Jeff Burich.

Bishop committed 29 turnovers, which Burich said was the main problem to fix before the next time his team has a chance at the Saints. He said that Spence hustled all over the court, and provided and example for all of her other teammates to build off of.

The Cardinals (9-6, 1-1) play at Santa Paula on Thursday.
