Amanda Burch scored 16 points — eight from the charity stripe — as the Carpinteria girls basketball team used a 15-5 fourth quarter to beat Malibu 36-30 on the road Tuesday. It was the Warriors’ sixth straight win.
Caitlin Wallace added 11 points with seven rebounds, joining Burch and Nicole Pearce to hold Malibu’s star player scoreless in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors (10-5, 1-0) will need all the momentum they can get against Frontier League-favorite Santa Clara in Thursday’s home game. The Sharks fell to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
