Bishop stays positive despite losing-streak

It was the same old story for the same young Cardinals on Friday, as Bishop Diego got off to a sluggish start and committed 23 turnovers in a 56-49 boys basketball loss at Villanova.

The Cardinals have now lost 13 straight, but coach Ray Vazquez said there is still plenty of optimism in the locker room for the freshman-heavy Cardinals.

“The attitude is good. We opened up the forum after the game and the young kids who had a lot of turnovers and they apologized and recognized that it led to losing a lot of points,” said Vazquez.“Then one of the seniors spoke up and told the freshmen that they’re the heart and soul of the team and if they continued to play hard good things would happen.”

Senior Connor MacGillivray, who had nine points and nine boards, and classmate AJ Fling both drew Vazquez’s praise.

Wednesday at Grace Brethren is Bishop’s next chance to turn things around.
