Coach Brent Gonsalves said that his Bishop Diego girls soccer team played perhaps its best match of the season Thursday, but Grace Brethren made it all for naught, scoring with 20 seconds left in injury time to hand the Cardinals a 2-1 defeat at home.
The Lancers took a 1-0 lead up until the final five minutes, when Sheena Martinez scored the equalizer for the Cardinals. Grace Brethren barely beat the whistle to take away the point from the Cardinals.
“The whole team played so well, it would be hard to pinpoint one player,” said Gonsalves.
Bishop (3-10, 1-3 Frontier League) plays at Malibu on Tuesday.
