Parinda Sukavivatanachai and Emilia Wakamatsu had breakthrough performances for the San Marcos girls water polo team on Thursday, scoring three goals apiece in a 12-5 win over Cathedral City at the Villa Park Tournament.
“That’s big for them. That’s great goal production from those two,” said coach Brian Roth.
Later in the day, the Royals took on Riverside Poly, Division V’s top team, and fell 17-8.
“It was a very competitive 17-8. It wasn’t one of those blowouts,” said Roth. “It was a good, aggressive and physical game for us.”
Goalie Autumn Lovett had a total of 13 saves on the day and had four steals in the cage against Riverside Poly. Jade Fitzgerald notched four goals in the win over Cathedral City.
The Royals (2-1) play at Mater Dei on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
