A depleted San Marcos boys soccer team suffered a 3-0 non-league loss at Channel Islands on Thursday in the Royals’ final non-tournament match of the year.
Royals head coach Brian Eisen said he got two strong performances from junior varsity sophomores Victor Arreola and Cody Howen as they were moved up to take the place of injured or vacationing players. In fact, Eisen named Arreola “Man of the Match.”
Eisen also credited junior Erik Gutierrez for playing a “wonderful game” from a center-midfield position, helping control the center of the field for the Royals, who fall to 4-5-2 on the season.
San Marcos wraps up 2008 in next week’s Marina Tournament.
