The San Marcos boys soccer team finished second in its group at the Marina Tournament after posting a 0-0 tie against Lakewood and a 4-1 loss to Fountain Valley Saturday.
“We should have had a victory against Lakewood. I’d say we had the ball on their half 85-percent of the match, but we just didn’t put the ball in the back of the net,” said coach Brian Eisen, whose team is missing nearly 10 regulars due to injury or vacation.Mynor Chavez scored off of a Jacinto Barreto corner kick for the only score against Fountain Valley.
The Royals (4-6-3) advanced to Monday’s elimination bracket.
