After suffering a 2-0 setback to Pacifica in its opening match of the Buena Tournament, the San Marcos girls soccer team pulled a “180” and went on to defeat Calabasas 2-0 in the second game of the day.
Nicolette Leslie and Jenny Ann Martinez found the back of net for the Royals, who are now 2-5-1 on the season.
San Marcos goalie Elysia Hodges recorded the shutout in the second game.
“She had to make four or five really good saves,” said coach Christy Lozano of her sophomore keeper.
Lozano also credited Jillian Hirsch, another sophomore, for playing strong defense on the backline.
