Rodriguez helps Carp beat Bosco Tech

Manny Rodriguez had 24 points and 12 boards for the Carpinteria boys basketball team Monday in a 60-51 win over Bosco Tech in the first round of the Valley Christian Academy Tournament in Santa Maria.

“It was a good game for us. Manny was 7-of-8 from the floor and was pretty much dominant,” said coach John Ward. “We did a good job of getting the ball inside to him.”

The Warriors (7-3) allowed seven offensive rebounds in the first quarter but shored things up after that.Kevin Lusterio had 15 points with five assists and four steals, and Ward complimented the defense of sophomore Trevor Madden.

Carpinteria plays a pair of games Tuesday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. against Chinese Christian.
