Luther Tarver-Burks scored 20 points with eight rebounds and a steal, but the Laguna Blanca boys basketball team lost a late lead and fell to host Villanova 54-48 on Wednesday. The Owls had beaten the Wildcats last week in the Laguna Blanca/Bishop Diego Tournament.
“We thought we could just walk into their gym and beat them,” said assistant coach Shantay Legans.
The Owls (3-4) were down by double-digits in the first half but battled back to take the lead with 1:30 remaining, only to lose it down the home stretch.
Jake Longstreth had a big game in the post with 10 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.
