Jeannette Mendoza scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds in only her second game back from injury, but the San Marcos girls basketball team continued its struggles, falling to Rosamond 46-41 Tuesday in the 15th-place game of the Tournament of Champions Green Division.
Despite the team’s sub-par performance inthe TOC, coach Kristyn Miller said she saw plenty of improvement in her team after Monday’s loss to Santa Ynez.
“It was good to have Jeannette back, and she really stepped back exactly where we needed her to,” she said. “I definitely feel like today was a step in the right direction. We’re playing with effort and playing hard, which is what San Marcos basketball is about.”
The Royals (5-8) play at Valencia on January 3rd.
