Michelle Gee scored twice for the Dos Pueblos girls soccer team in a 2-2 draw with Chatsworth on Saturday, but the Chargers couldn’t get anything going in a second game, losing to Hart 2-0 in their third game of the Buena Tournament.
The tie went to a shootout according to tournament rules, and it stretched out to the sixth shot when Chatsworth took it. The Chargers still received points for the draw and, combined with Friday’s 3-2 win over West Ranch, DP moved into the championship bracket where they ran into Hart.
“They’re probably the most aggressive team we’ve played,” said Kymberly Williams-Evans, who noted how her defense held the rugged squad scoreless the rest of the way.
Williams-Evans said goalkeeper Meagan Bellefeuille made at least three stops on one-on-one breakaways and defenders Kristen Witchey and Katie Boehm kept the pressure off.
In the first game, both of Gee’s goals were assisted by Erin Ristig. The second was started in the backrow by Karina Evans. She got te ball to Ristig who brought it down to the corner and passed it perfectly to a streaking Gee who punched it home.
“Text-book perfect,” said Williams-Evans.
