DP’s day turns in favor of Knight, 58-53

Malik Heptot continued his stellar start to the season, but the Dos Pueblos boys basketball showed its youth on Friday in a 58-53 loss to the Knight Hawks at the Simi Valley Tournament.

The 6-foot-9 Heptot scored 18 points with 12 rebounds and three blocks, but the Chargers lost a three-point lead in the fourth quarter. Knight started out the game by taking a 15-2 lead.

“We’re young, and our guys haven’t fought this hard for a long time,” said coach Joe Zamora.

The Chargers have seven consecutive games lined up beginning Tuesday, so now it’s time to get in some practices, which are “golden” for the team, according to Zamora.
