A furious Dos Pueblos fourth-quarter rally fell short as the Chargers lost to Oxnard 65-60 in a non-league basketball game Monday night at Oxnard.
After falling behind by 20 points in the third quarter, the Chargers picked up their game and cut Oxnard’s lead to four points, but they couldn’t get any closer.
“We struggled in the third quarter,” DP assistant Jeff Zamora said. “We couldn’t find our shot and they hit their threes.”
The Yellowjackets made eight 3-pointers in the game.
“We battled hard and showed a lot of heart,” Zamora said of the fourth-quarter comeback. “One of the positive aspects of this game is we ended on a good note.”
Malik Heptot scored 17 points to lead the Chargers (5-5), who had a two-game winning streak snapped. Robert Vickers and Evan Munoz added 14 points apiece.
Oxnard was led by Jamal Smith’s 17 points.
