The Santa Barbara girls basketball team found success in its first contest of the season, defeating Santa Ynez 64-42 on Thursday as part of the Lompoc Tournament.
Rebecca Griffin led all scorers with 22, and she helped the Dons jump out to a 40-19 halftime lead.
Santa Barbara’s defense clamped down out of the starting gates, only allowing Santa Ynez five points in the first period.
Geena Boscacci added 15 points for the Dons on 6-for-7 shooting, which included three 3-pointers. Griffin was also deadly from long range, knocking in four three-balls.
Griffin certainly filled out the stat sheet, recording six assists and five steals to go with her impressive point total on the night.
The Dons continue the Lompoc tourney on Friday with a matchup against Cabrillo at 3 p.m.
