Todd Heil knew he would have a competitive team, but this year’s Santa Barbara High boys soccer squad has surpassed the adjective “competitive” after improving to 10-0 with two wins Saturday at the South Torrance Tournament.
“It’s a very pleasant surprise. We’re getting goals from a lot of different players and our defense has been great,” said Heil.
the Dons beat Tesoro 2-0 in their first game on Saturday before downing Mira Costa by the same score later in the day.
Jesse Gonzales assisted Christian Pardo in the 25th minute against Tesoro, and Brian Joseff launched an assist to Justin Jimenez in the 60th.
The Dons wasted little time against Mira Costa, with Jimenez scoring in the fourth minute and Gonzales assisting Peter Aguilar in the 22nd.
