Cheyanne Brooks knocked in a goal for Santa Barbara off a rebound from a Briana Lopez shot, but a strong Harvard-Westlake side matched that and more in a 4-1 victory over the Dons at Peabody Stadium on Monday night.
Harvard-Westlake, ranked No. 3 in Division II, scored twice before Brooks’ goal made it 2-1 still in the first half.
Lopez gained control of ball some 40 yards out and was able to put some moves on and get past a defender. Moving to her right, Lopez blasted a low shot that the Harvard goalie got her hands on but didn’t stop. Brooks chased the loose ball down and slid to knock the ball in before it rolled past the right goal post and out of bounds.
Santa Barbara has one more non-league game (Jan. 6 against Oxnard) before opening Channel League play Jan. 13 at home vs. Ventura.
