Dons’ Blackwell has huge game against Camarillo

Brandi Blackwell had a career-best performance on Tuesday according to coach Andrew Butcher, scoring 17 points with 16 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the Santa Barbara girls basketball team’s 54-43 win over Camarillo (3-6).

“She also guarded their star player (Anne Yoshimura) in the second half and held her to two baskets…She’s getting to a point where she’s able to accomplish a lot of things on the basketball court,” said Butcher.

Blackwell has post-player size but is versatile enough to step in at point guard for the Dons, who are now an impressive 7-1 on the season. Butcher said that the first half was turnover-ridden for both sides but that the game cleaned up after the break.

Geena Boscacci tallied eight rebounds and five assists while Siondra Pererya added 10 points. The Dons play a tough St. Francis team to open up play in the Tournament of Champions on Friday.
