Malik Heptot and Robert Vickers reached double figures for the Dos Pueblos boys basketball team, yet head coach Joe Zamora was talking about sophomore Jay Larinan after a 58-29 rout of Hueneme in the Oak Park Tournament.
“Jay Larinan came off the bench and really sparked us,” praised Zamora for his sixth-man’s work, especially on the defensive end. “He’s a very gifted young man.”
Zamora liked what he saw from the entire Charger squad on that end as they held the Vikings to single-digit points in all quarters but the second.
Heptot, Dos Pueblos’ leading scorer, scored 18 with nine offensive rebounds, and Vickers put in 16.
DP evens its record at 3-3 and plays another pool-play game on Thursday against Agoura.
