Lompoc stretched it to overtime with a 3-pointer near the regulation buzzer, but the Dos Pueblos girls basketball team regrouped and came home from the Righetti Tournament with a 54-51 overtime victory over the Braves.
The Chargers (10-7) actually staked Lompoc a 13-0 lead before getting on the scoreboard, outscoring the Braves 54-38 the rest of the way.
“They didn’t miss for the first four minutes,” said DP head coach Maynard Pilapil, who credited Chiara DiMarco’s strong guard play with being a big part of the Chargers’ comeback.
With the preseason wrapped up, Dos Pueblos starts the new year and Channel League play with a one-two punch next week. The Chargers visit Ventura on Jan. 6 before welcoming Buena to Sovine Gym the next day.
