After two straight losses, the Carpinteria boys soccer team got back on the winning side of things with a 1-0 win at Nordhoff on Thursday.
Antonio Alvarez sent a cross to Allan Benitez in the 65th minute, and Benitez blasted it in from 20 yards out for the game’s only score.
“It was a beautiful goal, and this was a good victory after losing two in a row,” said coach Daniel Torres. “It wasn’t our best outing, but I’ll take it and the boys will take it.”
Torres also said that Aldo Campos came in and did an excellent job on the Warrior back line.
Carpinteria (6-2) opens at home with a pair of matches against ranked teams next week. The Warriors host Pacifica on Tuesday and Santa Ynez on Wednesday.
