The Channel League Singles Championships went according to form on Monday at San Marcos High School, with the top four seeds advancing to Tuesday’s semifinals without any trouble.
No. 1-seeded Lauren Stratman, a Dos Pueblos freshman, will play fourth-seeded Julian Mannix, San Marcos’ No. 1 singles player.
In the other semi, No. 2 and defending-champion Rachel Decker-Sadowski will face DP’s Erica Cano. It will be a rematch of last Tuesday’s tiebreaker set-win for Decker-Sadowski in Santa Barbara’s 10-8 win over the Chargers.
The tournament shifts to the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara on Tuesday with the semis beginning at noon.
Cano and Stratman have cruised to this point, neither one of them dropping a game in two wins in the best-of-three-sets format.
Decker-Sadowski beat Ventura’s Alyson Meyer in the first round and then was forced to oust teammate Danielle Broida in the second.
Mannix brought down two crosstown foes to make the semifinals. Dons freshman Aurora Garrison and Charger Hannah Zimmerman put forth strong effort but couldn’t beat the Royals’ senior.
