San Marcos’ girls spikers are headed into the postseason on a high note after sweeping visiting Ventura 25-23, 25-17, 25-17 Thursday to wrap up Channel League competition.
The Royals (15-8, 4-4) trailed 21-18 in the opening set but surged back and kept it on cruise control from that point forward. It was a very well-rounded effort according to coach Roger Kuntz.
Grace Conner had 11 kills in the middle while Flo Chardon had seven on the outside.
“It used to be either our middle or outsides were doing well, but we were pretty balanced on both tonight said Kuntz, who noted the passing of Emma Campbell and Hannah Warwick. Kristen Kuntz dished it 26 assists on the night.
“We’ve got good chemistry right now and we’re healthy,” said coach Kuntz.
