Person adds six more in victory

Playing a night-game on a muddy field at Carpinteria High School, the Cate Rams scored a 54-38 win over a CIF-ranked opponent in Montclair Prep thanks to another monster game for running back Randy Person.

Person scored six touchdowns for the second time this season and also had a great night at cornerback. Max Sabel also scored on the ground, as did quarterback Michael McMahon.

Coach Ben Soto said it would not have been possible without stellar play on the offensive line by John Warren, Mario Pioquinto, Ugo Nwasike, Luke Shover and Jackson Mauze.

Defensively, Cate’s mission was to slow down Montclair’s speedy running back, which the Rams were able to do except for on two kick returns for touchdowns.

Soto also extended his gratitude to Carpinteria High’s Van Latham, Henry Gonzales and Rick Olmstead.
