A strong wind hampered the Dos Pueblos girls golf team at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande on Thursday, and their 462 put the Chargers in 13th place at the CIF Sectional playoff.
Sophomore Emily Fox took medalist honors for the Chargers with an 80 on the par-72 course. Nicole Bullemer scored a 90, Vanesa Villa and Sami Hill a 97 and Anna Samson a 98.
“Our scores were much higher for everyone,” said coach Rob Schiff, who said the wind made for 3- and 4-club adjustments. “It was a pretty tough day.”
Still, Schiff was upbeat following the season’s end because of how he saw his young team improve throughout the fall and is looking forward to next year. Only seniors Samson and Saher Handani will be lost to graduation.
Torrance’s 390 was the low-score for the tournament, the last level before state.
Dos Pueblos won its 15th straight Channel League championship this season before shooting a 426 last week at the CIF divisional level to move on.
