The Westmont men’s soccer got aggressive in the second half of its Golden State Athletic Conference match with No. 12 Fresno Pacific on Tuesday, out-shooting and out-fouling the team with the better record on the way to a 3-0 victory.
Andrew Schneider’s goal in the 54th minute opened the floodgates for the Warriors (5-5-1, 2-3-1) and Anthony Strunz and Jonathon Schoff followed suit with second-half goals to hand Fresno just its second loss of the season.
Fresno’s Edison Gonzalez received a red card in the 49th minute, tipping the numbers in Westmont’s favor. The game was physical, especially in the second half, with the Warriors committing 21 fouls to Fresno’s 13.
Westmont was responsible for three yellow cards of its own.
Justin Etherton made three saves for the shutout.
