Carpinteria got its first Tri-Valley League victory in a big way on Tuesday with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-11 sweep over rival Bishop Diego in the Warriors’ gym.
“It felt really good,” said coach Katie Dolge of the win. “We got good play from everyone.”
Libero Yadira Saldana led Carpinteria in digs with 14 and had 2 aces. Setter Hannah Dennitz led the team with eight aces with nine digs. Kills leader was outside hitter Chantelle Sawyer with six.
Bishop Diego coach Joe Reiken, who has six freshman in his rotation, says the future of Cardinal volleyball is very bright but at the moment his girls are still adjusting to the high school game.
His two floor captains, both freshman in Diana Sleep and Nicole Tetherow, led the team with six kills and eight assists, respectively.
The Warriors (2-5, 1-3) have a matchup on Wednesday against Cate at 4:45 p.m.
