Tie swings in Royals’ favor

Amy Ransohoff and Christine Pearson dropped a mere three games while going 3-0 for the San Marcos girls tennis team in their homecoming match on Friday afternoon at San Marcos.

While the three wins were important, the game scores became especially crucial as the Royals and San Luis Obispo were tied at 9-9 and the match tilted in San Marcos’ favor after total games were tallied, 78-71.

Coach Kara Warkentin also singled out Kiki Katsev’s defeat of the Tigers’ No. 2 singles player as a key to victory — the Royals’ third straight.

San Marcos’ two other doubles teams, Amy Kinsella-Shelby Zylstra and Liz Morris-Annie Battles, both went 2-1.

The Royals will enjoy homecoming weekend before facing Oxnard on Monday.
