Riley St. Clair’s golden boot was money again for the Santa Barbara City College football team on Saturday, kicking a 46-yard field goal that ended up being the difference in a 17-15 Vaquero victory at Santa Monica College.
The victory is the first-ever for SBCC in Santa Monica and snaps an overall eight-game road losing streak. The win was especially gratifying to head coach Craig Moropoulos, who got his first positive road result in two years at the helm.
Receiver Oscar Loza had a big day, catching five passes for 103 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown reception from Austin Civita in the second quarter.
St. Clair’s field goal actually gave SBCC a 17-15 lead heading into halftime and it managed to stand up.
SBCC improves to 2-4 on the season and 2-1 in the American Pacific Conference. The Vaqueros hit the road again next Saturday for a conference matchup with L.A. Pierce College at 7 p.m.
