SBCC couldn’t sustain a 19-16 lead in Game 2 on Friday night at the Sports Pavilion and No. 7 Moorpark went on to post a 3-1 women’s volleyball victory. The scores were 25-20, 25-21, 18-25, 25-19.
Jessica Tune led the Vaqueros (3-9, 1-1) with 10 kills and Maria Mayer had nine. Vanessa Shaw made 23 digs.
“We’re playing better volleyball,” said Vaquero coach Ed Gover. “Our attack is more organized and our setter is more in control of the match. But we still have breakdowns. That one game was painful to watch.”
SBCC led 17-11 and 19-16 in Game 2 before the Raiders (13-4, 2-0) took the victory with a 9-2 run.
“It’s all about passing,” Gover added. “If we’re on, we’re good. If we’re off, we give up big runs.”
The Vaqueros travel to Hancock on Tuesday before opening a three-match homestand on Oct. 24 vs. Ventura.
