San Marcos’ doubles play has been its strength all season long, but not even two set wins from both Amy Kinsella-Shelby Zylstra and Amy Ransohoff-Christine Pearson could save the Royals from Dos Pueblos’ singles players in a 12-6 Channel League loss on the Chargers’ courts.
Erica Cano, Lauren Stratman and Hayley Edwards dominated singles play for the No. 8 Chargers, going 9-0 as a group with only three games lost along the way.
Dos Pueblos’ top doubles team, Amy Logan and Amy Sagraves, also managed to sweep their sets to complete the Chargers’ score and improve their record to 14-2 overall and 6-1 in league.
San Marcos drops to 9-4 overall and 2-3 in the Channel League. The Royals’ next league match is Tuesday when they host Santa Barbara.
