San Marcos coach Kara Warkentin shuffled her lineup on Tuesday in the Royals’ final Channel League match and got some pretty darn good results against Ventura.
Amy Kinsella, normally paired with Shelby Zylstra in the Royals’ No. 1 doubles slot, got the starting nod as a singles player and won three sets by a combined score of 18-1 to lead San Marcos to a regular-season ending 17-1 victory over Ventura.
The Royals (11-5, 4-4) finished third in league to earn a CIF bid. League individuals are first, starting next Monday on the San Marcos courts.
Zylstra joined forces with new-partner Caitlin Mannix and won two sets. Caitlin’s older sister, Julian, and Kiki Katsev added two sets each from the singles side.
Amy Ransohoff and Christine Pearson, who played as the No. 1 doubles team, won their three matches as did Annie Battles and Liz Morris.
