Royals annihilate Ventura, 18-0

Amy Kinsella and Shelby Zylstra led a potent San Marcos doubles contingent that dropped only four games in nine sets to lead the Royals girls tennis team to an 18-0 Channel League victory on Thursday.

Kinsella-Zylstra went 2-0 from the No. 1 spot, and and the teams of Amy Ransohoff-Christine Pearson and Annie Battles-Liz Morris both went 3-0. Coach Kara Warkentin was especially pleased by the debut of several JV players on varsity, which included a 6-0 set win from freshman Parisa Fallahi and Katie O’Brien.

San Marcos’ singles players also had little trouble with the Bulldogs. Regulars Julian Mannix, Kiki Katsev and Caitlin Mannix each won two sets. Subs Jackie Gregoire, Chloe Maasen and Nicolette Leslie didn’t let up the pressure, each contributing a set win.

The Royals went 36-0 against Buena and Ventura this week to improve to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in league. They return to the courts on Friday for a Homecoming match against San Luis Obispo.
