Parrish definitely liking the “D”

The Dos Pueblos boys water polo team did a great job scoring the ball, but Chris Parrish spoke of his team’s defense after a 17-4 Channel League victory over Buena on Tuesday.

“It was a good defensive game,” said the Chargers’ head coach, who was happy that the Chargers didn’t allow more than a goal in each quarter.

Kyle Wollert and Isaiah Haas split time as keeper. Wollert recorded seven saves and Haas had two saves and a steal.

Derek Shoemaker found the back of the cage five times and Derrick Graham and Ian Kistler were nearly as proficient with three scores each. Kevin Cappon and Conner Cleary had two, and Christian Terpening and Kevin Drewisch each had one.

The Chargers’ final regular-season home game is on Thursday against San Marcos. DP’s wraps up the regular season Nov. 6 with a rematch with Santa Barbara. Ventura’s upset of the Dons on Tuesday puts DP in a position to win the Channel League title outright with a victory.
