The majority of Laguna Blanca’s cross-country runners recorded personal-bests in Santa Clarita Saturday, making it a positive weekend for the Owls despite the team missing two of their top-five boys runners and their No. 3 girls competitor.
Kevin Lunn led the way once again, clocking in at a scorching 15:55, and Zach Campbell had a personal-best 17:31.
On the girls side, Vanessa Thom shattered her personal-best by over a minute with a mark of 21:06, and Sarah O’Connor was close behind at 21:49. Cecily Sanchez had a stellar day, besting her previous record by nearly a minute and a half at 23:07.
“Everyone ran really well,” said coach Bob Lunn. “We ran real hard in practice this week so I was a bit worried about their legs, but they did fine.”
A big meet at Mt. SAC awaits the Owls and the rest of the prep running community on Friday.
