Still finding its legs, Bishop Diego faced the daunting task of having to travel Division II-A’s No. 3 team in La Reina on Tuesday night for a Tri-Valley League match.
After a 25-12, 25-14, 25-10 sweep of his youthful team, coach Joe Reiken had to praise the competition.
“They’re a great team. They have six amazing players on the court all the time.”
Haley Fuller and Janelle Kohler recorded three kills to lead the team in that category. Mckenna Hogue blocked five balls and pounded two aces. Kohler also added three blocks.
Even though La Reina proved to be in another echelon, Reiken was enthusiastic because of what he saw Tuesday night that his team can challenge rival Carpinteria on Thursday for the Cardinals’ first league win. Game time is 6 p.m. at Bishop.
