The No. 1 Santa Barbara girls volleyball team shook off Buena 25-15, 25-16, 25-23 on Thursday with a Saturday non-league clash with Redondo Union around the corner.
Saturday’s game against the Sea Hawks starts at 2:30 p.m. and is free to the public with the area’s volleyball youth especially encouraged to attend by coach John Gannon.
Against Buena, the Dons (14-2, 2-0) faced a 19-16 deficit in the third game. Mimi Cuttrell, who recorded 14 kills in the match, took over at the end by slamming five kills in the final seven plays to secure the sweep.
Starting libero Sarah Mendoza contributed 12 digs and Gannon noted the strong play from Tori Armstrong in the second game of the match.
