Behind senior captain Flynn McGuire’s five goals, the Cate boys water polo team jumped out to a 14-2 lead before putting on the brakes in a 17-10 victory over Camarillo on Tuesday.
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Lin kept Camarillo from scoring for much of the match, recording nine saves. Lin also did a good job of starting the Rams’ counterattack with several pinpoint outlet passes.
Juniors Brett Diemer and Conrad Kurth joined McGuire as offensive weapons, each scoring three times.
The Rams hit the road again on Thursday, heading back to Oxnard to face the Yellowjackets.
