It took a quarter to get him going, but San Marcos’ Mac Gostow scored in each of the last three frames to lead the boys water polo team to a 9-7 non-league victory over visiting Cabrillo.
As a team, the Royals had it going in all quarters except for the third, when they gave up four goals in four minutes.
Though it wasn’t until Ben Kilpatrick’s score with 1:10 remaining in the fourth quarter that the game was sealed, the Royals led throughout. Sam Boysel scored three and goalie Travis Johnson collected 14 saves.
