Briggs Deardorff of the Santa Barbara High cross country squad finished 36th out of 201 runners in the large school boys varsity division of the Clovis Invitational Saturday, running the 5K course in 16:24. Leading the Dons on the girls side was Ana Cowgill, who weathered the cold and windy day to finish 99th out of 181 in 21:16. Geena Boscacci was five seconds behind Cowgill, placing 105th.
“Our times were real good,” said coach Olivia Perdices. “Our placing wasn’t spectacular but it set us up nicely for Thursday.”
Thursday is the next Channel League meet, which will be held down in Ventura.
