Bishop Diego swept in singles play en route to a 16-2 win at rival Carpinteria on Thursday, leaving the Cardinals at a solid 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the Frontier League at the season’s midway point.
“We didn’t realize we were going to do as well as we did,” said coach Suzanne Petrie. “The girls just stayed in it and played really well. Both schools had a lot of team spirit.”
The doubles team of Hanna DeArkland and Dani Mendoza earned the Warriors’ only points of the afternoon.
Next up for Bishop Diego is a non-league contest against San Marcos.
