Nicole Bullemer three-putted the 18th hole and still won the Channel League girls golf title by six strokes on Wednesday, firing a 78 at Soule Park to finish with a two-day total of 158.
Dos Pueblos took five of the top six spots in the tournament.
“As a team we shot 410 today, and (in the CIF playoffs) that would be pretty competitive,” said coach Rob Schiff. “I’m really proud of how we did.”
Vanesa Villa and Emily Fox were next behind Bullemer at 164, and Anna Samson finished up at 168. Buena’s Emily Wisma and DP’s Sami Hill wound up at 176.
Hill’s performance is particularly impressive considering she picked up the game only two years ago. She shot 39 on the back nine Wednesday in a round of 83.
“She’s just a great athlete and a really hard-worker,” said Schiff. “She was down three strokes to a couple of pretty good players heading in to the day but stayed focused.”
Schiff also pointed out that Bullemer has been battling a recurring case of strep throat through much of the season.
“She’s a great competitor. She hasn’t been really healthy all year, but she still holds herself to a very high standard,” he said.
DP is in action next on Monday at Soule Park for the CIF Individuals.
