Amy Kinsella, Shelby Zylstra and the San Marcos girls tennis team couldn’t of started Channel League play any better than they did on Tuesday as they routed visiting Buena 18-0.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kinsella-Zylstra was perfect, winning all three sets at love.
“We’ve just been playing really well this year,” said Zylstra of the 3-0 Royals.Zylstra added that the No. 2 doubles team, Amy Ransohoff and Christine Pearson, is a big reason for the improved play.
Coach Kara Warkentin agreed, “(Ransohoff-Pearson) has been really good for us. We have a little more depth this year.”
Julian Mannix, Caitlin Mannix and Kiki Katsev all took care of business in singles and Kelsey Fernandez was able to pick up a 6-0 set victory.
The Royals face Santa Ynez on Wednesday before taking up league play again next Tuesday against Dos Pueblos.
