Brianna Wiley was co-medalist along with Buena’s Emily Wisma, both shooting rounds of 44 Tuesday at par-37 Santa Barbara Golf Club in San Marcos’ 250-276 league-opening win.
Coach Shawn Ricci said that the Royals’ goal for the match was to shoot at or below 250 (accomplished!), while the other was to have the top four scores break 50. It was close, as Cat Lefemine fired a 49 while Zaira Barbosa and Alexandria Peretiako each turned in rounds of 50.
“All the girls felt like they played with a confidence that seems to grow each time we take the course,” said Ricci.
The Royals head to Alisal River Course Wednesday to play Santa Ynez.
