San Marcos’ Brianna Wiley broke 50 and Alexandria Peretiako wasn’t far behind with a 52, but medalist Kristin Henno and Santa Ynez were too tough on their home course, beating the Royals 234-269.
Playing at the par-36 Alisal River course, San Marcos coach Shawn Ricci commended the play of not only his top two performers, but that of freshman Katie Blum.
Blum’s 54 was a personal best and Ricci said she’s been working really hard to bring down her score and that days like Wednesday show that it’s paying off.
Zaira Barbosa shot a 55 and Cat Lefemine, usually around 50, ran into some trouble and turned in a 59.
The Royals will now spend the week preparing for Tuesday’s clash with cross-town rival Dos Pueblos.
