HONOLULU – No. 20 UCSB received goals from four different players on Friday night en route to a 4-0 blowout win over Montana in a match played in Honolulu as part of the Outrigger Hotels Classic.
The game was scoreless into the 35th minute, but at 34:27, junior midfielder Sarah Stoltz scored on a long lob shot that went over goalkeeper Grace Harris’s head. Less than five minutes later, the Gauchos made it 2-0 when freshman midfielder Corey Yoshida scored from about six-yards out after a jumble in the box.
UCSB scored two more times in the second half. At 66:01, freshman forward Emily Ohlhaver blasted a shot from eight yards out, over the goalie’s head and inside the far post. Just over 10 minutes later, at 76:40, junior forward Genelle Ives scored her third goal of the season when she knocked home a rebound on a low shot past Harris.
Sophomore Tammy Lenham (74:26) and freshman Ali Cutler (15:34) combined for the shutout. Lenham had a pair of saves. Overall, the Gauchos outshot Montana 18-4.
The win improves the Gauchos record to 6-2. They have won five of their last six matches and will take on Hawaii on Sunday afternoon at 8:00 p.m. (PST). Montana drops to 1-6-1
